CARL-LUDVIG SVENSSON

Carl-Ludvig Svensson graduated last year from Design School Kolding with the ambition to create multifaceted products that respects the complexity in which they exist. As a continuation of his master project he has deepened his engagement in the field of Carbon capture and utilization (CCU). Currently exploring the possibilities of fixing carbon in stiff structures through the use of biomass from algae.

Carl-Ludvig seeks interdisciplinary opportunities were he can further develop his approach: Critical yet constructive, Radical yet incremental, Local yet global. He frequently applies John Elkington triple bottom line; People, Planet, Profit- as a reminder to cater for social, environmental and financial sustainability within his work.

VIDA

Vida is Sweden’s largest privately owned sawmill company with 1 100 employees at 18 production facilities. Production is primarily focused on structural timber for a large assortment of different markets. Around 75% of production is exported to Europe, USA, Australia, Africa and Asia. Sales of sawn wood products are via a sales company, VIDA Wood. A total of around 3 million m3 solid timber excluding bark is acquired annually.

HENRIKSSON & LINDGREN

Henriksson & Lindgren is a freshly started Malmö-based studio that’s currently taking its first steps as a duo. Stina Henriksson and Ebba Lindgren met in 2016 when they both did a master’s degree in industrial design at Lund University, and have since done several projects together. Separately, they have for example done jobs for Malmö Opera, IKEA and Mejk design.

Henriksson & Lindgren are good at multidisciplinary work and gladly take on widely varying projects, as they like to explore new topics. The duo values sustainability and being involved in the value chain is important – communication with producers is crucial.

The studio strives for unexpected yet seemingly obvious results. For them, the story behind every project is important, and their designs have a clear purpose and/or a poetic core. Their goal is to be open-minded towards original ideas and to create things that spark interest. They hope to contribute to a more open and conscious design climate in Sweden.

KIVIKS MUSTERI

Kiviks Musteri have come a long way since they started their journey in 1888 when the founder, Mr Henric Åkesson, planted the first apple tree in the south eastern part of Sweden. What started out as a small apple orchard has developed into a modern beverage company. But one thing remains the same, it´s still a family company, which has been passed on from generation to generation.

KAJSA WILLNER

Studio Kajsa Willner is a cross-disciplinary business that designs and sells objects in small series and also does commissions for visualising spatial installations, curating exhibitions as well as initiating new projects to create innovative symbioses between the design field and other industries in the region.

Kajsa Willner has a bachelor’s degree in furniture design from Italy. After completing her studies in Rome and Milan and a few years of internships and work experience in the Netherlands, she returned to Sweden and founded Studio Kajsa Willner in Malmö in 2013.

Kajsa Willner was shortlisted for Ung Svensk Form (Young Swedish Design) in 2014/15 and was the bronze winner of the A’Design Award 2017. In 2016 she was selected by Konst i Halland (Art in Halland, a regional resource centre operated by Region Halland and Halland Art Museum in Sweden) to be artist in residence at the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, Poland.

STORA ENSO

Stora Enso, The renewable materials company,  develops and produces solutions based on wood and biomass for a range of industries and applications worldwide.

Building on their heritage and know-how in forestry and trees, Stora Enso is committed to the development of products and technologies based on renewable materials and creating value in a sustainable bioeconomy. Their products, in many cases, provide a low-carbon alternative to many products made from fossil-based or other non-renewable materials.

Today their solutions are found in such segments as building, retail, food and beverages, manufacturing, publishing, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, confectionary, hygiene and textiles. Tomorrow, they believe there is the potential to produce anything that’s made with fossil-based materials from a tree.

LAB LA BLA

LAB LA BLA, founded by Axel Landström & Victor Isaksson Pirtti, is a studio and “konceptfabrik” bridging the gaps between design, art and science. LAB LA BLA has previously worked with industries and institutions developing bio-composites from Sweden’s biggest sectors of natural resources, as well as more conceptual work.

NATURAL MATERIAL STUDIO

Natural Material Studio explores the future of overseen matter through research and design. Founded in 2018 by Bonnie Hvillum in Copenhagen, the studio has already shown great results with a developed pine needle composite based on natural materials, and is currently working with different designers, architects and technical experts. Together we have established an open platform called Nordic Material Lab (working title) centered on researching, developing and showcasing potential future design materials, upcycled and made out of waste. This is done through cross-disciplinary collaborations and partnerships across fields of art, science, design and architecture.

BALLINGSLÖV

Ballingslöv is one of the major actors in Scandinavia in terms of kitchen, bathroom and storage solutions. The majority of Ballingslöv’s total sales is derived from the Swedish market. The Ballingslöv brand has a prominent position and is known for its high quality, exclusive look and fine design as well as for offering one of the most flexible selections in the market.

LOUISE HEDERSTRÖM

Louise Hederström is a furniture designer based in Malmö. After graduating in 1998 from Beckmans School of Design in Stockholm, she now has an extensive business as a designer. Her clients include some of the most respected manufacturing companies in Scandinavian design, such as Bsweden, David design, Karl Andersson & Söner, Maze Interior, Offecct, Skagerak, and Skandiform. Louise also does interior design and exhibition design. She regularly participates in exhibitions in Sweden and abroad and has also repeatedly been an instructor for various design education programmes.

A distinctive feature of her design is the interaction between function and a characteristic expression that often get its inspiration from nature and the different possibilities of materials. She also works together with upholsterer Carina Grefmar under the brand Grefmar+Hederström that makes studio produced furniture with focus on the process when design and craft meets on equal terms. G+H are represented by the gallery Hostler Burrows in New York, they have also exhibited them at Design Miami.

M&E

M&E are Matthew Bolger and Emelie Lidström, an Irish/Swedish design studio based in Malmö.  We work in the fields of graphic and product design, photography, illustration and film. Known for our colourful work and love of process, we move between designing for cultural institutions and within the music industry to branding and concept development. Our work often takes the form of controlled experiments dealing with reflection, distortion,  light and colour by exploring a variety of materials such as glass, resin, wood and ink. Our style is playful but with a dark undertone, with randomness, rituals, traditions and the  relationship between nature and humanity being some of the reoccurring themes.
