Olsson & Gerthel
Olsson & Gerthel originally started as the Nordic region’s first gallery focusing on architecture in the late 80’s. In 1990, Håkan Olsson and Susanne Gerthel took the concept further and opened the doors to Olsson & Gerthel as we know it today.
With “art, furniture, knowledge” as watchwords, Olsson & Gerthel has a concept that rests on several legs. Ever since our time as a gallery, we’ve held many different exhibitions dedicated to both designers, artists and brands. Likewise, there are always beautiful, unique paintings on the walls in our store.
“Furniture” is perhaps the more obvious watchword, as it is the main focus both online and in our store in Malmö. But it is still strongly linked to both “art” and “knowledge”. It is not uncommon for a piece of furniture or a lamp to also be a work of art, both in terms of function and aesthetics. An excellent example of this is the coffee table Ettore by Åsa Jungnelius for Källemo, or our own floor lamp Accumulations, designed by Jenny Nordberg.
For Olsson & Gerthel, it is therefore a given that we want to participate in and support both an artistic and local initiative such as Southern Sweden Design Days.
